Coming back from a mission in the Iroise seaThe French missile launcher nuclear submarines (called SNLE Sous-marins nucléaires lanceurs d’engins), flagships of the French deterrence forces have first been launched in 1967 with the "Redoutable". They go on patrol during 10 weeks, in deep water, absolutlely silent and undetectable, loaded with 16 ballistic missiles and ready to fire… These secret weapons hidden all over the world send deterrence messages to any potential aggressor of France or its friends. After every mission, the SNLE returns to base in Brest. On board of a marine helicopter, Philip Plisson was granted permission to take photographs of The French nuclear submarine while a diver is being winched up into a helicopter in the Iroise sea.
