Airbus A320 landing on Hudson River
Philip Plisson witness of the landing of the U.S. Airways Airbus A320 on Hudson River, north of Manhattan !"In the afternoon, as I was waiting for the right light to take a picture of Manhattan, I was suddenly attracted by a floating object on the Hudson River, behind me... A few seconds were necessary to realize that the door that was opening in front of me, deploying inflatable ramps, was the one of an Airbus A320 landing silently on the river 300 meters away from me... Passengers evacuated the airplane using the 4 exits and jumped onto the wings waiting for rescue... It's quite a shock!!!" The pilot's calm and extreme competence saved the 150 passengers and the 5 team members. After landing on the Hudson the aircraft was surrounded by commuter ferries and later by rescue boats.
