Yann Arthus Bertrand

  Yann Arthus Bertrand

Born on 13th March 1946, Yann Arthus-Bertrand has had a passion for nature since childhood.
At age 30, he and his wife, Anne, went to live in Kenya.  It was at that time that he became a genuine photographer. He wrote his first book Lions, in 1981.

Upon his return to France, he began a career as a reporter-photographer and his work was published in many well known international magazines such as Paris-Match, Géo, Life or National Geographic.

In 1991, he founded the agency Altitude, which unites photographers from all over the world.  In 1995, under the sponsorship of UNESCO he undertook a big project : The Earth Seen From the Sky, a real inventory of our planet at the dawning of the 21st century.  This work was edited by his friend, Hervé de la Martinière, and became one of the best selling illustrated books with more than three million copies sold.

In 2003, he launched "Six Billion Others" : three cameramen met the populations living in the places already photographed for the book, The Earth Seen From the Sky.

In may 2006, the photographer, who defends nature as well as people, is elected member of the Academy of Fine-Art (Académie des beaux-arts).

As a sustainable development activist and the president of the association Good Planet, he invites us to think about the evolution of our planet and the future of its inhabitants.
